Short Biography
Dr. Siakel received his bachelor's and first master's degrees from the University of Chicago and his second master's and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Irvine, where he now teaches. Dr. Siakel's current research focuses on Process Philosophy in Western traditions and on Buddhist Philosophy in Eastern traditions. Vital connections between these traditions are detailed in a forthcoming article, "Does Buddhism Need Process Philosophy? Process Buddhism and Shentong Madhyamaka," which Buddhist-Christian Studies will publish in late 2026. Outside of academia, Dr. Siakel has served as the Director of Practice and Education for the Shambhala Meditation Centers of Los Angeles and Orange County and presently serves as a certified Meditation Instructor.
